Lucille Tessier, age 79, of Chincoteague Island, Va., died May
25, 2016, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md.
Daughter of the late Frederic G. Tessier Sr. and Alfreda Ross Tessier
Noel. Lucille married Richard Chagnon on Sept. 16, 1978, in
Philadelphia, Pa.
Lucille graduated from the Presentation of Mary Academy in Hudson, N.H.,
and went on to earn a bachelor of music degree from Rivier College,
Nashua, N.H., and a master of education degree from Boston College. She
was a member of Saint Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Chincoteague
Island, Va., and served as a lector there. She was a lifelong teacher
at every level of education, including 10 years at Rutgers University as
a literacy teacher and coordinator.
She wrote three books focused on her work in literacy: “Easy Reader, Learner, Writer;” “Voices Hidden, Voices Heard, A Reading and Writing Anthoology;” and “You, Yes YOU, Can Teach Someone to Read: A Step by Step How to Book.”
