Albertine TESSIER

Betty Benson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 5th, 2014 with her daughter and her grandson Luc at her side at the age of 84. She was born on April 3rd, 1930 in Moonbeam, ON., daughter of the late Albert Tessier and the late Elizabeth Truchon. Betty grew up in the area and also worked as “cookie” in the camps for Spruce Falls were she met her husband Ubald Benson and married in 1949 in Tessalon. She left in mourning her children:  Nancy (John) of Fauquier, Eddy and Gary of Kapuskasing.

She was the grandmother of Lynn, Luc, Danny, Linda, Sylvie, Billy Jack, Sheena, Jesse, James,
Sherri Anne and great-grandmother of Jeffrey. Kirsten, Cassandra, Megan, Machaëla, Cole and Hunter and as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her first husband Ubald Benson and second husband Zdzisian Malec, her parents, her siblings Emilie, Marie-Jeanne, Berthe, Cecile, Rene, Lionel, and Joseph, her nieces and nephews Roline, Robert, Rejeanne, Maurice, Danny, and Laurent.

Betty enjoyed life and lived her life to the fullest. She was very outgoing person and had numerous friends. Father Décarie described her best; “She’s such a gentle soul”. She also enjoyed travelling; she went to New York, Poland, Disney World several trips to Mexico and countless trips to the Calgary Stampede. She loved the outdoors, camping, enjoyed little things like going to the bazaars, penny sales, bingo, walking, cross-country skiing, dancing and learned to skate at the age of 72 years.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 11th, 2014 at the Notre-Dames-Des-Victoires Church, 6 Brunelle Rd S. in Kapuskasing at 11am with Reverend Father Hervé Sauvé officiating.

Donations to the Smooth Rock falls Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
