SYLVESTRE, Maria (Tessier)
With heavy hearts, we sadly announce the passing of Maria Sylvestre, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to so many. Maria passed away suddenly and peacefully in Cambridge Hospital, with her family by her side on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the age of 77. She was a devoted wife to Aurel for 56 years. A loving mother to Carole Bonham (Kevin) and Aurel Jr; and an adoring grandmother to Jayme, Caitlin and Cora. Survived by sisters and brothers Ronald, Francoise, Gaetane, and Richard (Joanne), sister and brother in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Predeceased by parents Joseph and Rose-Alma Tessier, brother Roger, sister-in-law Shirley, and brother-in-laws Jay and Denis. Maria held many positions in her lifetime. Her work positively influenced many people, she was always willing to give her time and a helping hand. She was an active member of the Galt Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Axillary. She loved cheering on and teasing family and friends who were not Toronto Maple Leaf fans.
Maria enjoyed spending her summers up at their trailer “up north” with family and friends, while during the winter spending time here in Cambridge with her children and grandchildren. A special thank you to the staff at Cambridge Memorial Hospital for treating the family with respect. Visitation will be held at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas Street, N., Cambridge on Saturday, February 26, 2022, from 11 am – 1 pm. Immediately followed by a small private service at the home.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke or Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
