Robert Melvin SANTURE
««Robert Melvin Santure, son of Albert Columbus Santure and Mildred Ruth Smith. Robert had four
brothers: Donald L Santure;Bernard E Santure; Marvin Santure; Conrad A Santure. The
Santure line can be traced back into a village called St.Ours,
Quebec,Canada with Urbain TESSIER dit LAVIGNE 1626 then into
Anjou, Indre-et-Loire, France with Arthur TESSIER dit LAVIGNE
about 1590.
The Santure name is believed to be a misunderstanding of translation between the French settler and the English census taker~ Tessiers from St. Ours.
The census people only put the Santour[St. Ours] which changed into Santure..Some of us are known as Tessier's ,some as Lavigne ( as in Avril Lavigne), some as Santour's and some of us as Santure's.We have deep roots in Monroe County Mi and Montreal Quebec.
My Dad loved to fish and hunt. He raised beagles and tried his hand at having a Jersey dairy farm.He was a prisoner of war in WWII. He worked for Michigan Bell Telephone»».
