«
He was born in Saint-Felix-de-Valois, Quebec on Feb. 5, 1886, the son of Mrs. Rachel (Rainville) and the late Andre TESSIER. His parents moved to Holyoke when he was four. He later undertook studies at Montreal College and Innsbruck Seminary in Austria. After being ordained at Montreal College on May 29, 1915, he remained for several years as a faculty member. Following his teaching career, he served as a curate in churches in Nanchaug, North Adams, Leominster, Springfield, Fisherville, and Fitchburg. In 1930 he was appointed pastor of St. Raphael's Church in Williamstown, where he remained for six years. From there he went to Good Counsel Church, East Hampton and in 1938 was appointed pastor of Immaculate Conception Church, Fitchburg.

On July 16, 1939, Bishop O'Leary appointed him pastor of Notre Dame Church to fill a vacancy caused by the death of Rt. Rev. Msgr. Louis D. Grenier. The years of his pastorate coincided with the years for World War II. In 1940, Fr. Tessier had observed his silver jubilee ordination anniversary with an elaborate program and reception at the church».
