Rena Carol TESSIER (née Garfield)

Arthur Edward "Buzzy" Tessier, (80),died Wed. Jan. 30th at Metrowest Medical Center in Natick. He was the husband of Rena (Garfield) Tessier of Ashland. Born and raised in Nashua, N.H., he was the son of the late Alfred and Josephine (LaTour) Tessier. He lived in Natick, MA. before moving to Ashland in 1953.

Upon graduating from Natick High School, Arthur worked for Sherman's Paper Products as a truck driver and receiving clerk until he was drafted by the U.S.

Navy in 1945 for World War ll. He proudly served as a seaman for ten months. Upon returning home, Arthur worked as a shoe cutter for Wichell Shoe in Natick. He then was redrafted by the U.S. Army in 1950 for the Korean War where he was wounded, and received the Purple Heart. Upon discharge from the service, Arthur returned to Wichell Shoe until it closed in 1974. Then he worked for Wellesley Press Inc. in Framingham as a receiving clerk and bindery assistant until he retired. Arthur was a life long member of the VFW and 5th Regimental Combat Team Association. He enjoyed gardening, reading, bowling, and fishing.

Besides his wife, he leaves his four children: James Tessier of Ashland, Michael Tessier and his wife Cindy of Chelmsford, John Tessier of Ashland, and Carol Tessier of Ashland. He leaves his grandchildren: Michelle Norton, Brian Tessier, Daniel Tessier, Jonathan Tessier, and Alexander Tessier as well as many great-grandchildren. Arthur also leaves his eight brothers and sisters: Barbara Kelly, Lucille Parker, Katherine Blockburger, and Jeanne Stanton, and the late Norman Tessier, Roland Tessier, Richard Tessier, and Theresa Rupert. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, Feb. 2nd at 9:00am in St. Cecilia's Church , 54 Esty Street in Ashland. Burial will be held Monday at 11:00am in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Calling hours are Friday from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main St. in Ashland.
