Henry TESSIER

Henry J. Tessier, Jr., DMD 1929 - 2023 Agawam Henry "Hank" J. Tessier, Jr., DMD died peacefully on Saturday, January 7, 2023. Born March 9, 1929, Henry was the son of the late Henry Tessier and Yvonne (Ally) Tessier. Born and educated in Chicopee, he attended Chicopee High School. He graduated from Tufts University, Magna Cum Laude, and was elected to The National Honor Society (Phi Beta Kappa). Hank attended Tufts Dental School. He then served in The Army Dental Corps for three years, attaining the rank of Captain. He was a member of the American Dental Society, Massachusetts Dental Society and Valley District Dental Society. He practiced dentistry in Springfield for 32 years and was beloved by many patients for his gentle and kind ways. Hank was an executive board member of the "Friends of The West Springfield Library." He was actively involved in library volunteer work for many years. He organized and put countless hours into the library book sales which raised needed money for the library. An avid hiker and tennis player, Hank followed those sports into his 80's and was always full of energy, kindness and good humor. He caused many family members to laugh with his mischievous renditions of his childhood and life stories. Hank loved to make people laugh and was quite the trickster. Hank was predeceased by his son Joseph in 1982. He leaves his devoted wife Marie, son Henry Tessier, III and his companion Lucila Plaza of Chicopee, daughters; Mary Tessier of California and Ann-Marie Tessier and her husband Tracy Strombom of New Hampshire and two nieces; Beth and Allyce. Hank's Funeral Mass will be Thursday at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 47 Pine St., West Springfield. Visitation will precede the Mass from 9:30-10:30 AM at Toomey O'Brien Funeral Home, 1043 Westfield St., West Springfield. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery.
