John Walker 1922-2015 |
March 10, 1922 to October 25, 2015
John passed away peacefully with his loving wife and family members by his side. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lise (nee Tessier), his cousin Mary Colman, his children Bill, Louise (Steve), Allan, Michele, Suzanne (Jim), Madeleine, and his grandchildren, Marina, Tom, Emilie, Nicole, Joelle, Jack, Isabelle, and Sophie. John was born in Vancouver and lived here most of his life. He attended Lord Kitchener Elementary, then Lord Byng Secondary, from which he graduated in 1939. He proudly served his country in World War II as part of the 429 (Bison) Squadron of the RCAF. After the war, John attended the University of British Columbia and earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He spent some time in Toronto where he met his true love Lise and they married in 1956, then returned to Vancouver to start a family. John had a great work ethic and worked very hard all of his life to give his family amazing opportunities, and he enjoyed a long and successful business career. We would like to thank Dr. Will Johnston, good friend and neighbour, for his compassionate and outstanding care and John's caregiver Emy Talite for her dedication. With gratitude, we thank the staff at UBC Hospital and the staff at St. John Hospice. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., at St. Helen's Anglican Church, 4405 W 8th Avenue, Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Parkinson Society of British Columbia, Royal Canadian Legion, or a charity of your choice.
