Richard E. Santure, age 90, of Monroe, passed away on September 2,
2018. Family and friends may visit from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday,
September 7th at Rupp Funeral Home where Monroe Council 1266 Knights of
Columbus will offer a Litany/Rosary service at 7 p.m. He will lie
instate at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church. Mass of the
Resurrection celebrating his life will begin at 10:30 a.m. The church
Pastor, Rev. David Burgard will officiate. Burial will follow at St.
Joseph Cemetery.
Born June 19, 1928, in Monroe, Michigan, he was the son of the late Louis and Evelyn (LaBeau) Santure. He was the faithful husband to Kathleen (Dolan) Santure until her passing exactly 3 years to the day from his passing.
Richard was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the local Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He enjoyed reading, woodcarving and traveling with his lovely wife during their retirement years. Richard loved his dog Buffy who was his companion and friend. More than anything, he loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his children; Susan (Philip) Wickenheiser of Newport, Julie Santure of Monroe, Brad (Carie) Santure of Newport, Mary Jo (Bradley) Watson of West Field, Indiana, and Patricia Santure of Monroe; grandchildren; Greta (Kelin), Christopher, Rebecca, Anna, Aaron, Elizabeth, Adam, Ashley (James), Jennifer (Dane), Jared, Brittany, Stephanie, Jamie and Shawn; great grandchildren; Katelyn, Stella and Hollis; and sister in laws Lola and Anita.
In addition to his parents, Richard was also preceded in death by his siblings; Roger, Harley, Clifton and Rita.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
The family would like to thank the staffs of the following institutions for the wonderful care given to their father: ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital and its Hospice team, Wellspring Lutheran Home, Visiting Angels, and the V.A. Medical Center in Ann Arbor.
