« By 1850 in Michigan, the census takers were begging the french families to please shorten their names. They had originally been using the Tessier name on census records, but it is generally known that the census taker asked them to choose one, the family name or the dit name. Around this time, Francis Xavier, and his brother Hilary who also resided in Monroe, chose to use the name Santure».

Léonie PILON (1869-1887)

Leona's family originated in Quebec, Canada. Shortly after Leona's birth, the family moved to Montana, settling about 5 miles from the present town of Twin Bridges on the lower Big Hole River. Leona died while giving birth to her second son (who also died). This cemetary is hard to find since it is well off the "main" dirt road to Argenta. Argenta is only a few homes scattered here and there. After speaking with a local, I was able to find this cemetary.
